PRIDE Edition: Let Your Yoga Dance

Let Your Yoga Dance is where Joy and Fun meet Deep and Sacred. ♥ All abilities – everyone is a dancer! We may dance around the room, in and around chairs, or probably a combination!  All levels - no previous experience with Yoga or Dance needed!

Click here for more about this method.

This event is for ALL body shapes and sizes, and is for LGBTQIA folks, their guests, and allies.  Bring your friends! Family! Roommates! Chosen Family! Kids 7 & up (with an adult)! Wear something comfortable and bring a water bottle, we’ll take care of the rest.
We’ll ride the “Rainbow of the Chakras” as we move from a calmer & quieter tempo as we warm up -- to louder & faster rhythms & movements – and then return back to inward focus. Featuring music by: Lady Gaga, J. Lo, the Beatles, and of course Karen Drucker... with a guided meditation for integration at the end.
This event is a collaboration with SHAPE Center RI, a resource that creates and connects Size-Affirming Health, Advocacy, Practice and Education. Our intention is to make this a welcoming event for folks of all sizes. We ALL have the power to continue to learn ways to: Turn down the volume on “diet culture” and fat-shaming and instead: Boost up a culture that practices inclusion & values diversity. Isn’t that what Pride is all about?

Breathing Time Yoga - Pawtucket

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a delicious way to relax and soothe frayed nerves. Restorative classes use bolsters, blankets, and blocks to prop students in passive poses so that the body can experience the benefits of a pose without having to exert any effort. A good restorative class is more rejuvenating than a nap.

This class is appropriate to students of all levels, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned yogini, you will benefit from this restorative class.

Fattitude Movie Screening, Meet the Directors, & Benefit for Girls Rock!

PAST EVENT

Fattitude examines how popular culture perpetuates the fat hatred and fat-shaming that

results in a very real cultural bias and a civil rights issue for people who are living in fat bodies. Fattitude is very conscious and attentive to the idea that fat hatred crosses the lines of race, class, sexuality and gender... Ultimately, Fattitude’s goal is to change the national conversation about body image so that it focuses not only on issues of self-acceptance, but also on legitimate questions of systemic cultural prejudice.

This event was cosponsored by Walden Behavioral Health, Liz Fayram RDN, CEDRO, and SHAPE Center RI and benefits Girls Rock!

SHAPE: Gratitude Workshop: YOU fit here!

Past Event

What’s the antidote to negativity & harsh self-talk? GRATITUDE. We are dedicating an entire workshop to gratitude in safe, accepting environment. Through movement, reflection, journaling, and embodiment, we’ll explore how we can practice Gratitude – right here, right now.

- Dance your yoga!

- Tune in to your relationship with eating!

- Nourish your soul!

- Be in an accepting community!

All workshop leaders are Health At Every Size® practitioners. SHAPE Gratitude Workshop is for people who live in fat bodies and their guests, and allies of size diversity and acceptance.

We’ll begin with Let Your Yoga Dance – combining yoga and music to enliven your heart, soul, brain, and body! These movements are fully accessible for all bodies – no previous experience is needed and no need to worry at all -- Everyone is a dancer! And Let Your Yoga Dance really helps to let that dancer emerge. Yogi's Janie Ganga and Nicole will lead us in this playful, open, and connected practice. If you’ve never danced your yoga or let your Gratitude MOVE before, you’re in for a treat! And if you’ve tried this out in the past, you know its transformative power.

Next, Liz Fayram RDN will lead us in reflection, journaling, and/or small group discussion about the connections between Gratitude, eating, and your body. What happens when you tune in to gratitude? How might the practices of mindful or attuned eating be helpful to you? How can an attitude of gratitude help you to honor your body?

Tickets are $35 for advance purchase and $45 the day of.
